The Buzz Bed

Bug has been sucking his fingers since he was 4 months old. It was great then, but now his teeth are moving forward and he always has callouses on his fingers. He only sucks his fingers when he has one of his "blankies" so we decided it was time to say goodbye to them and move on. Tonight Bug traded them in for a plush Buzz Lightyear, pillow, quilt, and sheets. I am not huge on decorating with "character themes", but if it works, it is DEFINITELY worth it. We also wrapped one of his fingers in a bandaid to remind him not to put it in his mouth. I am VERY interested to see if it is still on in the morning. The boys are currently bouncing around in their dark room while Bug sings songs that sound like this, "I love my new Buzz!" "I have a bandaid..." and such. We will see if he ever goes to bed without those little fingers to soothe him..........To be continued.

Staycation

Bond had lots do over his Spring Break, so he had to go to his office everyday to study, but we made the most of it by creating a mini-vacation. Each day the boys and I went to pick Daddy up for a couple of hours to explore the fun things to do around town.
St. Patty's Day, hence the green clothes.Bookstore.
We also ate at a Gyro place that made me feel like I was in NYC. It was crowded, stunk of body odor, and was scummy, but served delicious food. :)
All in all, a great week.

Finger paint?

I left Bug and Bear downstairs while I ran up to finish getting ready so that we could go out. Bug was finger painting and Bear was in his highchair eating lunch. I heard them both start giggling and assumed Bug was covering Bear in finger paint. Luckily I only came downstairs to this, which was accompanied with, "Look Mom, make-up! giggle giggle."

The Wildflower Cake

I just got back from a lovely evening at church celebrating the 166th Birthday of Relief Society. I had the opportunity to make a cake for it and it was the perfect day for a Springy cake because the sun was actually out ALL day! YAY!

South Pacific

Now that we don't live around our wonderful parents anymore, dates are far and few between. But thanks to our great neighbors we were able to eat dinner at Billy's and see South Pacific at the local performing arts center which students can get half priced tickets for. Spending time with the one you love never gets old.

After Church

I just think Bear looks so cute and grown up in these pictures.
Bug insisted on taking a picture of the three of us after he got his taken. Not too shabby.

Bear's Quilt

Thanks for the color opinions. I ended up getting some different green fabric that is a slightly different shade and has a textured look. Can't wait to see how it turns out. There is too little time in the day.

Here is the quilt I made for Bear for his B-day.

Color advice

I am making a quilt using this pattern and want to know what sashing fabric you all think looks better.....the solid green or the purple batik? you don't have to know anything about quilting to respond, just let me know what looks more appealing to you. If you want to see them larger, just click on each picture. Thanks!

Bear's Blue Birthday Bash

We had such a fun time celebrating Bear's Birthday and managed to fit 10 families in our little place! That was a success for sure.
Here is my handsome boy on his First Birthday.
Some of the party guests. The food: including meat balls, artichoke dip, and TNT cheese salsa. So glad there are left overs. :)
Party Favors. Have you guys ever seen these candies before? They are shaped like M&M's, but are Almond Joy and York Peppermint Patty flavored. Mmmm good, and the perfect colors for the party.
Family!
Okay, so I tried to attempt a non-fondant cake this time, and I will NOT try it again until I take my next cake class. Making frosting look smooth is a lot harder than I thought.

Special Visit

Bond received a new calling at church to serve as a Stake High Councilor so Pops flew in for the weekend to ordain him as a High Priest. It was great to have him stay with us even if only for a couple of days. We miss our families!

Race Track Car Caddy

I used this "Cozy Car Caddy" idea from Homemade By Jill to create a Race Track Car Caddy for Bug. It was his final gift from the mailman on Valentine's Day.
I pretty much thought it was one of the coolest things I had ever made, but he was more impressed with the Flo, Luigi, and Ferrari that came in it. Oh well, my hopes are still high that he will one day discover how awesome it is. We did actually have a few races together on it today, but neither of the cars ever got to the finish line because Bug kept crashing his car into mine. I love my two year old. :)
