Ice Storm

We got blasted with ice about three weeks ago.  Bond woke me up in the middle of the night in a panic.  He alerted me with the news that the power was out and that I needed to get out of bed because he was pretty sure a tree was about to fall on our bedroom.  We ran to the front entry way to examine the tree further, and saw that it was actually leaning towards the boy's room.  We got all the kids out of bed and "slept" on the couch together in the basement.
In the morning, after Bond and my dad chain sawed us out of the driveway, we took off in search of a generator and a warm place to eat lunch.....our house was freezing.  We managed to get the last generator and then ordered some lunch at Skid's before they started turning customers away.  It was pretty much the only place open and with power.
The next five days were full of excitement, with no power or running water.  Luckily we have friends close by for showers, and day two warmed up exponentially.
Tons of trees had fallen on our property, but thankfully none on the house. We were very fortunate.

The church had no power, so instead we had our other powerless friends, over for a hot dog roast.  The weather was beautiful.

We did school by the fire to keep warm.
Played at the park with friends.

And enjoyed ice cream cones at BK afterwards.

It was kinda fun and adventurous.  We learned a lot and did new things we wouldn't normally ever think to do. But, we were SOOOO glad when the power returned.
