Sewing

I am part of a MOPS group (Mother's of Pre-Schoolers) here in town and I made this for an end of the year raffle.  There is a queen sized bed in Belle's room that I assume will become her bed when she is old enough and I am making a quilt like this for it.  This quilt was used with some of the left over squares.

This dress was made from an old Girl's Camp T-shirt using a tutorial from MADE.  I actually made this before I was pregnant with Belle, in hopes that I would eventually have a little girl to put it on.  I have decided that dresses are very silly for babies who can't sit yet. They are always scrunched way up.  Good thing I also made one that should fit her next summer.

Valentine's Day

Not that I'm totally biased or anything, but this just might be the cutest little Valentine ever.
I made her leggings, heart onesie, and her ridiculously huge tutu headband. I know it's all a little over the top, but if you wished to have a baby girl since you were like 7, and finally got one after two boys, then you understand. :)

Bear showing off his completed monster tee.

The boys with their Valentine mailboxes.
They are singing rock a bye baby to their boxes in this picture.
Our friend invited us to their home school Valentine Party, the boys would not participate in the games, but when it came time to deliver Valentine's and decorate cookies there was no stopping them.

Little Monsters

I love how the boy's Valentine shirts turned out using this tutorial from "Make It and Love It." I added arms and fingers to Bug's shirt but still need to add some fingers to Bear's.
Bug had a Pajama party at Preschool today but was embarrassed to wear PJ's so we made a deal where he could wear this shirt with some of his gray cotton pajama pants.  He informed me that they had a pillow fight and he won.

Sonic The Hedgehog

Bear has been obsessed with Sonic the Hedgehog.  If you call him anything but Sonic, he will say, "No! I just Sonic the Hedgehog."  He was ecstatic when he opened his pjs and found they were blue just like Sonic and that his slippers were red, just like Sonic's shoes (lucky buy on my part, since they had been purchased almost a year ago).
I usually like to make several Christmas presents, but with a newborn I knew that wouldn't happen this year.  I only got around to making one gift....Bear's very own Sonic the Hedgehog.  He was extremely excited when he opened it and rushed it into his crib so he could sleep with it.

Carseat Tent

I am really nervous about having a newborn in the middle of Winter.  Hopefully her new carseat cover will help keep out the germs and cold.  Tutorial found HERE.

Easter Sunday

I had so much fun planning the boys Easter outfits this year.  I got a head start a few months ago since I was hoping to be pregnant soon and knew I wouldn't be able to sew.  I made the bow ties on a whim one day with some fabric I had bought to make ties for them last year and never used.  Later I bought the faux linen for their pants (I avoid ironing at all costs), cut the pattern out and promptly got too sick to care about sitting up long enough to sew.  That is when my Mom, the amazing seamstress, came to the rescue. She whipped up their adorable pants and I love the result.  Bug reminds me of Einstein and Bear of Alfalfa. Bow ties are so funny.
Bug, our "Mr. A Type" personality, was more concerned about his shoes getting wet than posing for a picture. Bear, on the other hand, was all kicks and giggles.  It is funny how different two boys from the same parents can be.  We love them so much.

Happy Easter!

Jammie Pants

Dana at MADE is doing a whole month worth of boy posts!  Here is my take on her pant tutorial from Monday.  They were very simple to make. I forsee many more homemade pants coming our way.

And they aren't just good for sleeping.
They're good for jumping.
Brotherly wrestling.
 Bench sharing.
 Cookie and milk dipping.
 And posing for the camera.

Car Mat

My mom made a car mat for us when we were kids, and even as a girl I remember playing with it a lot and really enjoying it.  When I saw this one on Homemade By Jill, I had to make one for the boys. And I have been sewing like mad the past few nights to get it done by Christmas.
An old school house and our Church Building.
A Barn and Silo.
Our House.
Daddy's School and Work.
A Fire Station.

The Zoo and Zoo Train.
Airport.
Gas Station.

The back.
The two things I would have done differently are:
  1. Interfaced the green fabric before doing anything else. By the time I started sewed things on it was too late. It would have kept the mat flat and decreased the puckers when doing the zig zag stitching.
2. Used a different kind of fabric paint for the road, or I would sew the road on with fabric.  It made the mat way too bumpy.

Argh, but as the say, hindsight is 20/20. Don't you just hate that?
