The Zoo Crew
Our Zoo Pass has been the best purchase of the season. We go every week and the boys just eat it up. Now that I am a "regular" there I find myself becoming attached to some of the animals. Weird, especially for me...the non-animal lover. Actually I just realized I am a non-pet lover, but wild animals that I don't have to clean up after are much easier to love. Did you know that there are less than 20 Clouded Leopards left in the wild? Sad. They are beautiful.
Besides animal watching. I also enjoy people watching while the boys dig in the sand. It's intriguing to watch other Mom's handle their children and eaves drop on their conversations with friends.

Summer Feet
Bug tends to wake up as soon as the sun comes up (ie 5:45 or so). He is allowed to come into our room in the morning if it is light outside and lay down on a sleeping bag beside our bed if we are still asleep. This morning he asked me to cover him up with a blankie. As I did I told him that he could put his head on the pillow that was there for him. As he laid his head on the floor he said, "No cause it's pink." Where did he come up with the idea that he doesn't like pink, and that he would dislikes it so much that he would rather rest his head on the floor than a soft pillow?!
In addition to waking up early, he is also in the stage of wanting to stay up late now that he realizes we are still awake. Tonight while Bond and I were at the table eating cookies and milk, Bug came wandering out of his room and made his way into the kitchen. Bond asked, "Hey, whatcha doin'?"
Bug shrugged and said offhandedly, "I just want to hang out with you guys."
How can you say no to that? I don't care what time it is.

May Catch-Up
Learning about teeth.
(And how to rot them with marshmallows.)
Tender Family Home Evening Moments.
Putting Bear to work. Being resourceful with a puzzle piece as a paci.
Getting dressed and ready for church is quite the ordeal. Worthy of a picture.

Nostalgic
I was looking through some pictures of last summer and now I feel.....not sad, but teary eyed and proud, at how much my boys have grown in a year. Bug is not a toddler anymore, but a full fledged kid. And Bear is no longer....sniff sniff.... a baby.
I have so much love in my heart for these boys and am counting my blessings to be their mom. What an amazing and crazy adventure the journey of motherhood is. I wouldn't trade it for anything.....even my sanity.

The Cast Signing
The family making their mark on Bear's "bum wing" (as a lady at the zoo called it today.)
More on the accident for those interested:
The boys and I were at the top of the stairs packing a box, when Bear started heading down them. I accompanied him halfway down and then left him to go down the rest of the way by himself because he has been pretty competent going up and down on his own (in crawling fashion). But sure enough, as soon as I get to the top, I hear him tumble down to the bottom and find him screaming with his arm under his back.
He was fussy for the rest of the night and collapsed every time he attempted to crawl. The next day he refused to crawl at all and I knew I had to face the facts and take him in to the doctor. Poor kid, but I am grateful he had only started to learn to walk and was still using crawling as his primary means of transportation or else I never would have known his arm was injured. Nothing else seemed to bother him, except for crawling. Today marks day 8 of the cast. One more week on stinkiness and unbalanced walking..which caused his fall onto a stool at the library and therefore, his black eye. This kid can't win.

The Moving Casualty
Amidst this:
Bear went slightly unattended and managed to accomplish this:
Poor little guy fell down a few stairs while I was at the top of them packing a box. He has a spiral fracture in his wrist but luckily it should heal fast since he is so young.....15 days and its off!
